Our Doctors

Dr. Matthew Puzio, the son of founder Dr. Frank Puzio, joined the practice in 2006. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Assumption College and his Doctor of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry.

Dr. Matthew completed post-doctorate fellowships in contact lenses, vision therapy, and sports vision. He specializes in advanced contact lens fitting, dry eye management, and sports vision therapy.

He stays at the forefront of the most current trends in eye care and is always looking for ways to improve the practice: clinically, technically, and through process improvement.

Dr. Matthew Puzio maintains active memberships in the American Optometric Association, the Massachusetts Optometric Association, and is a member of the Cape Cod Eye Care Associates.

He is the president of Practice Management Associates, a select group of 12 progressive optometric practices from across the country who meet regularly to share practice improvement ideas and to help develop new products and services for ophthalmic companies.

He currently resides in Dennis with his wife Meredith, daughters Leighton and Hadley, and their dogs Lincoln and Lucca. Personal interests include skiing, bike riding, basketball, and golf.

Dr. Melissa Ernst

Dr. Melissa Ernst Brenot, OD, FAAO, Diplomate, ABO joined Puzio Eyecare in August of 2024!

Dr. Ernst graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science and from the University of Houston College of Optometry with her Doctor of Optometry. 

She completed a residency in ocular disease at the VAMC in Baltimore, MD.  While on her residency, she received training by ophthalmology specialists from Wilmer Eye Institute, at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. 

Dr. Ernst specializes in diagnosing and managing ocular disease conditions, including diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, and other ocular disorders.  She also provides comprehensive eye exams and contact lens exams for patients of all ages.

Dr. Ernst has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry since 1997.  She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry.  She was published in 1997 in Clinical Eye and Vision Care, with a case report titled “Treatment of Glaucoma Secondary to ICE Syndrome.”

She currently resides in Brewster with her son, Sebastien and daughter, Anais, along with her dog, Lexie and cat, Angel. Personal interests include skiing, yoga and martial arts.
